Multiplayer Setup Instructions

Postby Gristmill » Sun Sep 22, 2013 9:31 pm

On start you will be asked for a Gamer Name and Port. For the port we recommend 14242, though technically any free and open port will do. It is important to remember which port you decide to use. If you're not sure, stick with 14242.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have two computers on the SAME network that want to play the game, the second/third/fourth PC may need to have a different port specified. So the first would be 14242, the next 14243, the next 14244 ... etc. Remember what you use, and generally put them in series to save yourself headaches later.

Now it's time to either start a game (and then host it, same as in Xbox, Multiplayer Beta > Launch) or Join Game, at which point you'll need to enter a Game Name and an IP address. This should be the OUTWARD FACING IP address of the person who is serving the game. This is not a 192.168.x.x number ... if the person you are trying to connect to doesn't know what their Outward IP is, they can go to the same Join Game menu as you and see it printed in the upper-right corner. (Alternately have them google "what is my ip").

To recap: joining another player, enter a name for that game and the server's IP, which they gave to you.
